Epistemic Uncertainty & SSRL

Project Manager: Sue Kwon (suekwon@upenn.edu)

This project explores how epistemic uncertainty and socially shared regulation of learning (SSRL) intersect to shape high school students’ collaborative learning within authentic STEM learning environments. Framing epistemic uncertainty as a pedagogical resource, the study investigates how students in small groups collectively regulate their learning as they navigate moments of uncertainty. It seeks to understand when and how uncertainty becomes productive, and how learning environments can be designed to better support students in engaging with uncertainty through shared regulation.
